Hello,
Welcome to ASU Preparatory Academy. My name is Daniel Pike, and I teach Cambridge A and AS Level Literature in addition to Creative Writing at the Polytechnic campus. As an Arizona native and a Sun Devil alumnus, I am honored and excited to be affiliated with ASU. I originally graduated with a BA in English Literature and worked in industry as a ghostwriter and editor before deciding to pursue a teaching career. I have since earned my M.Ed in Secondary Education and my MA in English, and I am currently pursuing my Ph.D in English Literature. I am anxious to share everything I learn about dead languages and ancient poets with my new students.
As a proverbial glutton for punishment, I’m usually writing when I’m not passionately quoting Tennyson at teenagers, translating something originally scrawled on vellum, chasing that real-life Medieval experience by stomping around the park in a suit of armor, or otherwise embarrassing my wife (not really--she's even more metal than I am) and two daughters. I most recently contributed three articles to a critical anthology for ABC-CLIO regarding racial representation in American film. I have also published several longer works of both fiction and nonfiction--some under my own name and some anonymously during my ghostwriting days.
It’s my hope that my diverse background will serve my students well on their exams this year--and in their own creative endeavors.
Please feel free to contact me at any time at [email protected] or using the contact form on this website.
Cordially, Daniel Pike, M.Ed, MA
